GREAT BEND, Kan. (Interstat) — The Barton Community College men’s basketball team, riding high with a 7-1 record, will host a struggling Colby squad on Tuesday night in a junior college matchup.

The Cougars are coming off a narrow 78-76 road victory over Cloud County on Saturday. In that contest, Jayden Ramirez led the scoring with 19 points, while Noah Williams added 14 points and eight rebounds.

Barton’s lone loss this season was a 70-66 defeat at Mineral Area on Nov. 5.

The Colby Trojans enter the game at 0-5 and are looking for their first win. They are coming off a 73-56 loss to Seward County on Saturday. Gabe Njenga and Braedyn Gillespie were the top performers for the Trojans in the loss, scoring nine and 13 points, respectively. Colby’s defense has been a season-long concern, having allowed an average of 95.4 points in its five losses.

Tuesday’s game will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again at Colby on Feb. 11, 2026.

Following this contest, Barton will travel to face Coffeyville on Saturday, while Colby will host Cowley on the same day.
