LONG BEACH, Calif. (Interstat) — The Long Beach Vikings narrowly defeated the Rio Hondo Roadrunners 69-66 in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday. In a contest where neither team led by more than a few possessions, Long Beach secured the victory at the free-throw line in the final seconds. Kamron Fontenot led the Vikings with 18 points and nine rebounds. Bobby Reyes scored 15 points for Rio Hondo, which fell to 0-2. Long Beach evened its record at 1-2. Both teams struggled from beyond the arc, combining to shoot just 7 of 39.
