HAYWARD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Shasta Knights and the Chabot Gladiators will look to find their footing in the early season when they meet in a men’s junior college basketball game Thursday at the John L. Wagner Classic tournament.

The Knights (0-2) are still searching for their first win after opening the season with a pair of road losses. Shasta fell 68-59 at Ohlone on Oct. 31, followed by an 86-64 defeat at San Mateo on Nov. 1.

Chabot will be playing its first game of the 2025-26 season. The Gladiators’ most recent result was an 85-79 victory at Canada on Feb. 21, 2025, from the previous season.

The tournament, which runs from Thursday through Saturday, will see both teams continue play this weekend. Shasta is scheduled to face Alameda on Friday and Los Angeles Trade Tech on Saturday. Chabot will also play Los Angeles Trade Tech on Friday before a Saturday matchup with Alameda.

Thursday’s contest will be the first of three consecutive home games for the Gladiators to open their season. The Knights, after their two road losses, will look to break into the win column before returning home later this month.
