CONCORDIA, Kan. (Interstat) — A men’s junior college basketball showdown between two of the region’s hottest teams is set for Saturday when the Barton Cougars visit the Cloud County Thunderbirds.

The Cougars (6-1) enter the contest on a five-game winning streak, most recently defeating Dodge City 85-78 on Wednesday. Noah Williams powered that victory with a 17-rebound, 13-point double-double, while Jayden Ramirez added 22 points.

The Thunderbirds (4-1) are also riding high after an 85-65 win over Seward County on the same night. Their balanced attack was led by Manasseh Stackhouse (18 points, 7 rebounds) and Elidjah Savane (15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks). Cloud County’s only loss this season came on the road against a tough Indian Hills squad.

Barton’s offense has consistently produced, scoring 74 or more points in all six of its wins. Cloud County has shown its own firepower, eclipsing 80 points in three of its four victories.

The matchup will be a test for both teams before they dive deeper into their conference schedules next week. Barton hosts Colby on Tuesday, while Cloud County travels to face Cowley.
