SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Interstat) — The Palomar Comets will host the Palo Verde Pirates in a California men’s junior college basketball season opener for both teams on Friday, Oct. 31.

Both programs will look for a fresh start after concluding their previous seasons with lopsided losses to San Bernardino Valley. The Pirates finished their last campaign with a 110-75 home loss to San Bernardino Valley on Feb. 21, while the Comets fell 101-66 on the road against the same opponent on Feb. 26.

The Halloween night matchup at Palomar will mark the official beginning of the 2025-26 season for the two squads. It will be the first of a challenging opening stretch for the Pirates, who are scheduled to play at Imperial Valley the following day.

Palomar will also face a quick turnaround, traveling to play at Copper Mountain on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
