SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Yuba 49ers and Sacramento City Panthers will open their new seasons Friday when they meet in a men’s junior college basketball game at the Sac City Tipoff Classic.

The non-conference matchup, organized by the California Community College Athletic Association, pits two programs looking for a fresh start. Both teams finished their previous campaigns with losses and carry identical 0-0 records into the season opener.

Yuba last played on March 1, 2025, falling 89-69 on the road to Santa Rosa. Sacramento City’s most recent contest was a February 18, 2025, 86-75 home loss to Sierra.

The game will serve as the first of a busy opening weekend for the Panthers, who are scheduled to host Fresno City on Saturday. The 49ers will continue their season next week with home games against San Diego City and a road contest at Fullerton.

Tipoff is set for Friday, Oct. 31, at Sacramento City College.
