Garden City vs Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (Interstat) — A key early-season men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Wednesday when the Garden City Broncbusters visit the Hutchinson Blue Dragons at the Sports Arena.

Garden City (4-1) enters the contest looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a 91-77 road defeat against North Platte on Nov. 12. Zaire Lott led the Broncbusters in that game with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Dasean Lewis added nine points and five assists. Prior to the loss, Garden City’s offense was prolific, scoring 128, 106, 121 and 97 points in its four consecutive wins to open the season.

Hutchinson (3-1) last played on Nov. 8, securing an 88-72 home victory over Lamar. Kyrell Shaw was dominant in that win, pouring in 37 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Bobby Cannon added 21 points for the Blue Dragons, whose only blemish is a narrow 71-68 home loss to Southwestern Christian on Nov. 7.

The game features two of the region’s top offenses and will be a test for both teams as they begin a tough stretch of conference play. Hutchinson will look to capitalize on its home court against a high-scoring Garden City team eager to get back on track.
