Southwest Tennessee vs Volunteer State
GALLATIN, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Volunteer State Pioneers will look to build on their first home win of the season when they host the winless Southwest Tennessee Saluqis in a men’s junior college basketball game on Wednesday.
Volunteer State (2-3) is coming off an 81-76 home victory over Motlow State on Saturday. The Pioneers’ other win was an 89-86 result against Lincoln Trail on Nov. 1.
Southwest Tennessee (0-2) is seeking its first win after falling 74-65 at Roane State in its most recent outing this past Saturday. Eric Jones led the Saluqis with 10 points, five rebounds and six assists in that contest, while Johnathan Kusmiy added 13 points and five rebounds.
Despite the teams’ combined 2-5 record, a projection from Interstat anticipates a tightly contested matchup, simulating a 100-100 final score.
The game will be the first of a home-and-home series between the programs this season, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 4 in Memphis.
Volunteer State travels to Walters State on Saturday for its next contest, while Southwest Tennessee returns home to face Chattanooga State.
