GASTONIA, N.C. (Interstat) — The Gaston Rhinos look to continue their undefeated start and complete a regular-season sweep when they host the Cleveland State Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday at Ashbrook High School.

Gaston (2-0) enters the contest riding high after an 80-71 road victory over Roane State on Nov. 8. The Rhinos’ offense was explosive in their season opener, a 108-78 rout of these same Cougars on Nov. 4.

Cleveland State (2-1) seeks redemption from that lopsided loss, its only blemish this season. The Cougars opened their campaign with two narrow road wins, 78-74 over East Georgia State on Oct. 31 and 77-56 over Southern Crescent on Nov. 1, before the 30-point defeat to Gaston.

In the first meeting, Gaston’s offense proved overwhelming. Containing that attack will be the primary focus for a Cleveland State defense that allowed over 100 points. For Gaston, maintaining the momentum from their first two outings is key as they begin a stretch of 10 consecutive road games following this home contest.
