MINERAL AREA, Mo. (Interstat) — The Mineral Area College Cardinals (3-2) host the Wabash Valley College Warriors (2-1) in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Friday at the Bob Sechrest Classic.

The Cardinals enter on a two-game winning streak after a dominant 86-63 road victory over Highland (Ill.) on Saturday. In that contest, Iziah Purvey and Ramello Smith led the scoring with 15 points each, while Edwon Duling Jr. dished out 11 assists.

Wabash Valley is also coming off a strong performance, defeating Harry S Truman 77-55 at home on Nov. 8. The Warriors’ season began with a 79-52 win over Southeastern before a 71-58 loss at Moberly Area.

Friday’s game is the first of a challenging 10-game slate for each team. Mineral Area’s next contest is at Southwestern Illinois on Nov. 19, while Wabash Valley is scheduled to host Three Rivers on the same date.
