Hillsborough vs Southern Crescent
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — The Hillsborough Hawks and Southern Crescent Tigers, both seeking a winning rhythm early in the season, will meet in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Friday at the Daytona State Shootout.
Hillsborough (1-1) enters the contest coming off an 82-77 road victory against Odessa on Nov. 8. The Hawks’ offense was powered by a trio of high scorers: Chandler Davis, who nearly recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists; Niko Bavaro, who scored 22 points with seven rebounds; and Nicholas Womack, who also added 22 points. In its season opener, Hillsborough fell 106-80 to Midland.
Southern Crescent (0-1) looks to rebound from a 77-56 season-opening loss to Cleveland State on Nov. 1. The Tigers will rely on production from Khaven Coachran, who posted 17 points and six rebounds in the defeat, and Austin Walker, who added seven points.
The neutral-site game presents an opportunity for both teams to build momentum. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest is projected to be a tightly fought battle, ending in a 100-100 tie.
Following this game, Hillsborough will face Northwest Florida State on Saturday, while Southern Crescent is scheduled to play Daytona State.
