Volunteer State vs Chattanooga State
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Chattanooga State Tigers will open their 2025-26 men’s junior college basketball season at home against the Volunteer State Pioneers on Saturday.
The Pioneers (1-1) enter the contest looking to build momentum after a high-scoring 89-86 victory over Lincoln Trail last Saturday. Volunteer State’s offense was powered by a standout performance from Taylor Groves, who recorded 23 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Dylan Delk added 14 points and 6 rebounds, while Cannon Hale contributed 18 points and 5 assists.
That win served as a bounce-back for Volunteer State after a lopsided 93-57 road loss to Vincennes to begin its season.
Chattanooga State has not played a game that counts toward its season record since March 12, 2024, when it fell 83-79 to Walters State. The Tigers will be shaking off the rust for their official season debut.
The matchup will be the first of a busy opening stretch for both teams. Volunteer State travels to face Columbia State on Nov. 12, while Chattanooga State hosts Pellissippi State on Nov. 19.
