Arizona Western vs Snow

EPHRAIM, Utah (Interstat) — Sean Felts scored 34 points to lead the Snow College Badgers to an 82-68 victory over the Arizona Western Matadors in a men’s junior college basketball game on Saturday.

The Badgers remained undefeated on the season, improving to 4-0, while the Matadors fell to 3-2.

Snow used a dominant second-half performance to pull away after a competitive opening period. The Badgers outscored the Matadors 48-37 after halftime, turning a narrow 34-31 lead into a comfortable double-digit win. The game was a defensive struggle for long stretches, with both teams shooting below their season averages from the floor, three-point range and the free-throw line.

Felts was the engine for the Badgers’ offense, shooting efficiently from the field and adding four rebounds, two assists and a block in 31 minutes of action. He was complemented by a strong all-around effort from his teammates. Aaron Bliss recorded a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Sam Sivulich facilitated the offense with 13 points and a team-high six assists. McCaden Adams also chipped in 14 points off the bench.

For Arizona Western, Mario Brunetto provided a scoring spark with 18 points. Boubacar Diatta added 10 points and four rebounds, and Illiam Fevry contributed nine points and four rebounds in the losing effort.

The game’s opening minutes were marked by sloppy play, with both teams combining for multiple turnovers and missed shots before finding an offensive rhythm. Snow built a small lead late in the first half, but Arizona Western stayed within striking distance, thanks in part to Brunetto’s outside shooting.

The Badgers began to create separation early in the second half, using a 12-4 run to extend their lead. Snow’s defense tightened, forcing difficult shots and capitalizing on Matador turnovers to fuel their transition game. A key sequence midway through the half saw Felts score on consecutive possessions, followed by a steal and dunk that energized the home crowd and pushed the lead to 14 points.

Arizona Western attempted to mount a comeback, cutting the deficit to single digits on a three-pointer from Nikola Aleksic with just over six minutes remaining. But Snow responded immediately, with Sivulich and Felts answering each Matadors basket to maintain control. The Badgers closed the game on a 12-5 run to seal the victory.

The win extends Snow’s strong start to the season, which includes a high-scoring victory over Eastern Arizona the previous night. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for Arizona Western, which had defeated Utah State Eastern on Friday.

Snow is next scheduled to host Yavapai on Monday. Arizona Western does not play again until a two-game home series against Community Christian beginning Nov. 25.
