Howard (Tex.) vs Salt Lake
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Howard (Texas) Hawks and Salt Lake Bruin Bears, both holding 1-1 records, will face off in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday at the Bruins’ home court.
The matchup features two teams looking to build early-season momentum. Howard arrives after a dramatic 95-94 road victory over Butler (Kan.) on Tuesday. Daniel Culberson led the Hawks with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Terry Copeland scored a team-high 22 points. Howard’s season opened with a narrow 72-71 loss at Northern Oklahoma-Enid.
Salt Lake enters with dominant home-court momentum, having routed Central Wyoming 83-60 on Tuesday. The Bruins’ defense has been stifling, holding their last opponent to 60 points.
According to Interstat’s ELO system, Salt Lake is projected as the favorite with a 63.50 percent probability to win. The game will be a test of Howard’s high-scoring offense against Salt Lake’s formidable defense.
The Hawks continue a road trip at Navarro on Nov. 15. Salt Lake will travel to face Midland on Sunday.
