LEVELLAND, Texas (Interstat) — The South Plains College Texans will open their 2025-26 men’s basketball season Friday night when they host the struggling Otero College Rattlers in a junior college matchup.

The game will tip off at 7 p.m. at Trinidad St. Gymnasium.

South Plains has not played a competitive game since a heartbreaking 88-87 loss to Triton in the NJCAA Division I tournament on March 27, 2024. The Texans will look to start a new campaign on a positive note against an Otero squad searching for its first win.

The Rattlers (0-2) are coming off a difficult 121-88 home loss to Garden City this past Saturday. They also fell 77-65 to Seward County on Oct. 31. Otero’s defense will be a primary concern, having allowed an average of 99 points per game through its first two contests.

Following Friday’s game, South Plains will travel to face Trinidad State on Saturday. Otero continues a tough road stretch with a game at New Mexico Military on Saturday.
