MARIANNA, Fla. (Interstat) — The Chipola Indians will look to bounce back from a season-opening loss when they host the South Georgia State Hawks in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday at the Gulf Coast State Classic.

Chipola (0-1) is coming off a 78-76 overtime defeat against South Georgia Tech last Friday. The Indians’ season record reflects that single contest.

South Georgia State (0-0) will be tipping off its 2025-26 season. The Hawks’ last official game was a 57-55 loss to Georgia Highlands on March 15, 2024, concluding their previous campaign.

The matchup presents a contrast in early-season rhythm. Chipola has already experienced game action and will seek its first win, while the Hawks debut under game conditions for the first time this year.

Following this contest, both teams face quick turnarounds. Chipola is scheduled to host Indian River State on Saturday. South Georgia State continues its stay at the classic, facing Gulf Coast State on Saturday.

The game is set for Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.
