TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — The Shelton State Buccaneers will open their 2025-26 men’s basketball season on Thursday, Nov. 6, hosting the Itawamba Indians in a junior college non-conference matchup.

The Buccaneers, who have not played a game since an 85-78 loss to Gadsden State on Feb. 22, 2024, will look to start the season on a positive note against an Itawamba squad seeking consistency.

The Indians (1-2) are coming off a 79-67 home loss to Lawson State this past Monday. In that contest, DJ Davis led the team with 21 points, while Kyler Fox recorded a notable stat line of 13 rebounds and five blocked shots to go with seven points.

Itawamba’s season has been a mixed bag, featuring an 85-67 victory over Coastal Alabama on Nov. 1, sandwiched between road and home losses.

This game will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to play again on Thursday, Dec. 4, in Fulton, Mississippi.

Following this contest, Itawamba travels to face Shawnee on Monday, Nov. 10. Shelton State’s next game is also on Nov. 10, a road contest against Copiah-Lincoln.
