CARTHAGE, Texas (Interstat) — The Panola Ponies and Southern-Shreveport Jaguars will tip off their new seasons Thursday night in a men’s junior college basketball non-conference matchup.

Both teams enter the contest at 0-0, looking to establish an early identity for the 2025-26 campaign. The game will be the season opener for each program.

Southern-Shreveport last took the court on Feb. 28, 2024, earning a 76-70 home victory over Delgado. Panola’s most recent outing was a narrow 80-76 road loss to South Plains on March 25, 2024.

The Jaguars will continue a challenging early schedule with a home game against Kilgore on Saturday. Panola’s next contest is a week from Thursday at home against Clarendon.

Thursday’s game marks the start of a new chapter for both squads as they look to build momentum before entering their respective conference schedules later in the year.
