WADLEY, Ala. (Interstat) — The East Mississippi Lions look to build on a dominant season-opening victory when they face the Southern Union State Bison in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday at the Raider Classic.

East Mississippi (1-0) opened its season Friday with a 79-46 rout of Baton Rouge. The Lions’ offense was efficient from the start, setting a high bar for their early-season form.

Southern Union State (0-0) will be playing its first game of the season. The Bison have not taken the court for a competitive game since an 84-64 loss to Bishop State on March 8, 2024, a gap of over 19 months.

The contest pits East Mississippi’s early momentum against a Southern Union State squad that is essentially beginning a new campaign. The Lions will be tested by a fresh opponent, while the Bison face the challenge of shaking off rust against a team that has already found its rhythm.

Following this matchup, East Mississippi will prepare to host South Georgia Tech on Nov. 6. Southern Union State opens its road schedule at Albany Tech on Nov. 5.
