GALLATIN, Tenn. (Interstat) — Taylor Groves scored 23 points and dished 12 assists to lead Volunteer State to an 89-86 men’s junior college basketball victory over Lincoln Trail on Saturday. The Pioneers, who evened their season record, withstood a 51-point second half from the Statesmen. Groves was one of five Volunteer State players to score in double figures, supported by Cannon Hale with 18 points and Jamal Nero with 15. Lincoln Trail, which won its season opener the previous night, drops to 1-1 overall.
