Reinhardt vs Point

WEST POINT, Ga. (Interstat) — Reinhardt will seek its first victory of the season Tuesday when the Eagles visit Point in a men’s NAIA basketball game at West Point Park Gym. Reinhardt enters at 0-1, while Point is 0-2. The game is the second of the season for Reinhardt and the third for Point. Point will play its home opener after opening with two road losses, while Reinhardt will be on the road for the second straight game. Both teams are seeking their first win of the season.

The Eagles are coming off a 71-60 loss at Tennessee Southern in their most recent game. AJ Shaw is the player to watch for Reinhardt after posting eight points, six rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes. Jackson Sousa added 10 points, five rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes, and Chance Wilson contributed six points and five rebounds in 23 minutes. Shaw’s recent effort gives Reinhardt a perimeter and rebounding presence as it looks to generate offense against the Skyhawks.

Point has opened the season with two losses, including a 107-76 setback at Bryan in its most recent game. Braylon Dame led the Skyhawks with 17 points, two rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes. Jeremy Bernard added eight points, six rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes, while Devan Rush finished with six points, three rebounds and one assist in 10 minutes. Dame will be a central focus for the Point offense after his productive outing. Point’s two losses have come on the road, and the Skyhawks will look to Dame to help establish early offensive rhythm at home.

The Skyhawks also dropped a 99-80 decision at Webber International earlier this season. Point will try to use its home floor to secure its first win and slow Reinhardt’s transition game. Reinhardt will counter with Shaw and Sousa as it seeks more consistent scoring after its season-opening road loss. The Eagles will try to even their record before returning home, and the Skyhawks will aim to protect their home court in their first home appearance of the season.

Reinhardt’s upcoming schedule includes home games against Coastal Georgia, Lindsey Wilson and Spartanburg Methodist, along with road games at Tennessee Wesleyan, Milligan, Truett McConnell, Cumberland, Bryan, Union Commonwealth and Columbia International. Point’s upcoming slate includes a road game at Dalton State, home games against Thomas, Faulkner, Columbia (S.C.) and Life, and road games at Blue Mountain, Brewton-Parker, Abe Baldwin, Mobile and William Carey.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Point to beat Reinhardt 82-74.
