Columbia (Mo.) vs UHSP
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Interstat) — A matchup of teams at opposite ends of the NAIA men’s basketball standings unfolds Saturday when the surging Columbia (Mo.) Cougars visit the struggling University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Eutectics.
The Cougars (22-3), riding a five-game winning streak, are heavy favorites against a UHSP squad that has managed just three wins in 23 outings this season. The game is a rematch from just 11 days prior, when Columbia secured a 72-60 home victory on Feb. 10.
Columbia’s strength is built on consistency and defense, having held opponents under 70 points in four of their last five contests. Their most recent win was a 63-57 grind against Central Baptist (Ark.) on Feb. 14, where forward Jemeal Goines posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Goines has been a force, averaging a near double-double over his last six games, including a 17-point, 12-rebound performance in a win over Hannibal-LaGrange on Feb. 3.
UHSP (3-20) has found wins hard to come by but showed resilience in a recent homestand, edging Crowley’s Ridge 79-78 on Feb. 5 and defeating Williams Baptist 81-75 on Feb. 7. Guard Yigit Ekinci has been a bright spot, contributing across the stat sheet. In the Feb. 10 loss to Columbia, Ekinci led UHSP with 10 points.
The Eutectics will need a significant defensive effort to slow a deep Columbia offense that saw Caleb Jones (14 points) and Johnny Anderson (13 points) join Goines in double figures in the last meeting. UHSP’s most recent outing was a 92-52 loss at Hannibal-LaGrange on Feb. 12.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at UHSP’s home court. Columbia will look to solidify its dominant season, while UHSP seeks a monumental upset to disrupt the Cougars’ march toward the postseason.
