HASTINGS, Neb. (Interstat) — Two Nebraska NAIA men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Doane Tigers visit the Hastings Broncos at Lynn Farrell Arena.

The matchup features teams with nearly identical records. Doane enters at 8-14 overall, while Hastings sits at 7-19. Despite the struggles, both squads have shown recent flashes of potential, setting the stage for a competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference contest.

Doane arrives with confidence after a dominant 95-67 road victory at Waldorf on Saturday. The Tigers’ offense was fueled by a balanced attack, led by Trevon Beckman’s 24 points and six rebounds. Casen Chaney added 15 points and six assists, and Justus Gardiner contributed 14 points. Beckman, a key player to watch, is averaging 14.4 points over his last seven games, including a 26-point performance against Mount Marty on Jan. 21.

Hastings, meanwhile, is coming off a high-scoring 103-91 loss at Morningside. The Broncos demonstrated offensive firepower in defeat, with Ben Boudreau posting 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Boudreau has been a consistent force for Hastings, averaging 15.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists over his last six outings. His standout performance was a 26-point, seven-assist effort in a win over Midland on Feb. 4.

The season’s first meeting was a narrow 64-62 victory for Hastings at Doane on Nov. 19, 2025, indicating another close battle is likely. Both teams have struggled in tight games this season, with Doane dropping recent one-point decisions to Morningside and Mount Marty, and Hastings falling by a single point to Briar Cliff.

The game will hinge on which team can sustain its offensive rhythm. Doane will look to build on its explosive 95-point outing, while Hastings will rely on Boudreau’s all-around play and the support of DaRon Hall, who scored 19 points in the last game.

Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m. CST Wednesday. Doane’s next game is at home against Midland on Saturday, while Hastings will host Concordia (Neb.) the same day.
