Concordia (Neb.) vs Doane (NE)

Bulldogs, Tigers Set for GPAC Clash in Crete

CRETE, Neb. (Interstat) — A surging Concordia (Neb.) squad aims to rebound from a tough loss when it visits a struggling Doane team in a Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday at the Haddix Center.

The Bulldogs (15-8) enter having won four of their last six, though they are coming off a 96-89 overtime road defeat at Waldorf on Jan. 31. Concordia’s offense has been potent, averaging 86.5 points per game during that six-game stretch.

Doane (7-12) seeks to halt a four-game skid, most recently a 93-67 loss at Northwestern (Iowa). The Tigers have found wins scarce in GPAC play.

The game features a marquee individual matchup between two of the league’s top guards. Concordia is led by Brooks Kissinger, who is averaging 23.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists over his last seven contests. He poured in 28 points in the loss to Waldorf.

Doane will counter with Casen Chaney, who has been a consistent scorer. He averages 13.4 points per game and is coming off a 19-point performance against Northwestern.

History heavily favors the visitors. In the first meeting this season on Dec. 3, Concordia dominated Doane 90-59 in Seward. The Bulldogs have won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the programs.

For Concordia, supporting cast members like Dane Jacobsen (18 points, 7 rebounds vs. Waldorf) and Jaxon Stueve will look to provide balance. Doane will need production beyond Chaney, with players like Jack Wilson and Justus Gardiner providing key contributions recently.

A Concordia win would solidify its position in the upper tier of the GPAC standings, while Doane desperately needs a conference victory to build momentum for the final month of the season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. CST Wednesday.
