CRETE, Neb. (Interstat) — Alex Wilcoxson scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Morningside held off Doane 79-78 in an NAIA men’s basketball game Saturday. The Mustangs survived a late push from the Tigers, who erased a double-digit deficit behind Crayton Macholan’s game-high 23 points. Morningside led 79-78 after a Caleb Dreckman layup with eight seconds left, and Doane missed a final shot. The Mustangs improved to 15-5 overall, while Doane fell to 7-11. Wilcoxson added three assists for Morningside, which swept the season series. Daniel Brocaille contributed 19 points for the Mustangs. Jonan Claussen scored 14 for Doane.
