Baker vs Central Methodist
FAYETTE, Mo. (Interstat) — The Baker Wildcats will look to halt a two-game skid when they visit the Central Methodist Eagles in an NAIA men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Puckett Field House.
Baker (7-11) is coming off a heartbreaking 92-91 overtime loss to Graceland on Saturday, while Central Methodist (11-8) aims to build momentum after an 81-65 victory over Peru State the same day.
The game features a contrast in recent fortunes and a marquee individual matchup. Baker guard Cam Jones is in stellar form, averaging 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds over his last four contests. He poured in 25 points in the narrow loss to Graceland. The Wildcats will lean heavily on his production, with support from Luke McDonald and Jimmy Dorsey, who combined for 26 points in that outing.
Central Methodist counters with forward Raphael Gay, who is averaging 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He dominated in the win over Peru State with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Eagles boast a more balanced attack, with Isaiah Bonaparte and Isaiah Reams providing consistent scoring alongside Gay.
The Eagles hold the advantage in the season series, having defeated Baker 89-64 on Nov. 25. Central Methodist’s overall record and home-court advantage position them as the favorite, but Baker’s potent offense, led by Jones, ensures they are a threat to any opponent.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST. Following this contest, Baker will host Missouri Valley on Saturday, while Central Methodist travels to face William Woods on Jan. 28.
