WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Maryland and Georgetown will meet in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game on Saturday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., with both teams seeking a 2-0 start. The Terrapins are the visiting team, and the Hoyas are the home team.

Maryland is 1-0 after a 96-67 win against Bucknell in its most recent game. Andre Mills, a guard, led the Terrapins with 22 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes. Pharrel Payne added 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes, and Tomislav Buljan had 10 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes. Jaland Lowe scored 23 points with two rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes, and Elmarko Jackson added 14 points, three rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes. Iwuchukwu is the player to watch for Georgetown after his 21-point, nine-rebound effort.

The matchup at Capital One Arena gives Maryland a chance to build on its opening victory and Georgetown an opportunity to protect home court. Both teams have opened the season with productive performances from their top players. Mills gives Maryland a guard who can score and rebound, while Iwuchukwu provides Georgetown with an inside presence after a strong opening game. Maryland’s Payne and Buljan also showed they can contribute, while Georgetown’s Lowe and Jackson supplied scoring and playmaking in the Hoyas’ first game. Both programs opened with double-digit victories and will look to carry that momentum into a matchup that could offer an early measure of their progress. Georgetown will rely on its interior scoring and guard play, while Maryland will lean on Mills and its frontcourt production.

Maryland’s upcoming schedule includes a home game against Virginia, followed by home games against Alcorn State, Wagner, Tennessee in Las Vegas, American, Michigan State, Morgan State, South Carolina in Baltimore and Radford, along with a road game at Ohio State. Georgetown will next host Delaware State before a road game at Clemson. The Hoyas also have home games ahead against Navy, Coppin State, Massachusetts-Lowell, Rider, North Carolina, Sacred Heart and Seton Hall, along with a game against Texas in San Diego.

Interstat’s game simulator is projecting a final score of Georgetown 70, Maryland 66. Interstat’s ELO system is projecting Georgetown with a 60.2 percent probability to win. Maryland has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -3. The over/under for this game is 146.5.
