Baylor Bears vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers
BAYLOR, MINNESOTA MEET IN LAS VEGAS SHOWDOWN
LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — Two teams seeking a winning record will clash when the Baylor Bears face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a non-conference men’s basketball game at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday.
Both teams enter the contest with identical momentum, having lost their final regular-season games last week to finish at .500 or below. Baylor (16-16) fell 83-79 at Arizona State on March 10, despite a 25-point effort from Cameron Carr. Minnesota (15-17) dropped its finale 72-67 to Rutgers on March 11, led by Cade Tyson’s 24 points.
The neutral-site matchup in Las Vegas offers each squad a final opportunity to secure a winning season. Baylor has shown a potent offense at times, including a 101-point performance against Utah on March 7, but has struggled with consistency, particularly on the road. The Bears are 2-3 in their last five games.
Minnesota, meanwhile, has been streaky, sandwiching a three-game winning streak in late February between periods of struggle. The Golden Gophers are also 2-3 in their last five, with one of those wins a narrow 67-66 victory over Northwestern.
Baylor’s attack is powered by Carr, who averages a team-high 25 points, and Isaac Williams, who contributes 15 points and 4 assists per game. Minnesota counters with Tyson, a high-volume scorer, and supporting players like Bobby Durkin and Grayson Grove.
The Bears have been installed as a 3.5-point favorite by sportsbooks, with the total points over/under set at 146.
Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. EDT Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena.
