High Point vs. Arkansas
HIGH POINT, ARKANSAS SET FOR NCAA TOURNAMENT SHOWDOWN IN PORTLAND
PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — A surging mid-major and a battle-tested power conference squad will clash Saturday when the High Point Panthers face the Arkansas Razorbacks in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.
The second-round matchup, scheduled for March 21, 2026, at the Portland venue, pits High Point’s remarkable 31-4 record against Arkansas’s 27-8 mark earned in the rugged Southeastern Conference.
seed High Point, fresh off a dramatic 83-82 first-round upset at Wisconsin on Thursday, rides a 12-game winning streak. The Panthers’ engine is forward Terry Anderson, who posted a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) against the Badgers. Over his last six games, Anderson is averaging 17.8 points and 7.2 rebounds, including a 25-point, 12-rebound performance against UNC Asheville on March 7.
seed Arkansas advanced with a commanding 97-78 victory over Hawaii. The Razorbacks are powered by dynamic guard Darius Acuff Jr., who scored 24 points with 7 assists in the win. Acuff has been on a scoring tear, averaging 28.7 points over his last three contests, including a 37-point outburst against Oklahoma on March 13.
High Point’s balanced attack also features guard Rob Martin, who had 23 points and 10 assists against Wisconsin, and forward Cam’Ron Fletcher, who added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Arkansas counters with a high-octane offense that has topped 90 points in four of its last six games. Alongside Acuff, freshman Meleek Thomas (21 points vs. Hawaii) and forward Malique Ewin provide significant scoring punch.
The Panthers, champions of the Big South Conference, have not lost since Feb. 8. Their efficient play will be tested by Arkansas’s relentless pace and SEC pedigree. The Razorbacks’ four losses since Feb. 1 have come against ranked opponents, including a 111-77 defeat at then-Florida.
Saturday’s winner will advance to the Sweet 16. The game is scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. PDT tip-off.
