Texas Christian vs. Duke

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — A surging underdog meets a national title favorite when seed Texas Christian faces top-seeded Duke in a men’s NCAA Tournament second-round game Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Horned Frogs (23-11), fresh off a dramatic 66-64 win at Ohio State on Thursday, are tasked with slowing one of the nation’s most dominant teams. The Blue Devils (33-2), the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament champions, enter as heavy favorites but survived a scare from 16th-seeded Siena in a 71-65 first-round victory.

TCU’s hopes likely hinge on the continued stellar play of forward David Punch. The junior is coming off a 16-point, 13-rebound, three-block performance against the Buckeyes and has averaged 18.4 points over his last five games. His versatility on both ends will be critical against Duke’s formidable frontcourt.

That frontcourt is anchored by sophomore star Cameron Boozer, a consensus All-American. Boozer averages a double-double and was instrumental in Duke’s narrow escape against Siena, posting 22 points and 13 rebounds. He is supported by his twin brother, guard Cayden Boozer, and high-flying wing Isaiah Evans, who each added 19 and 16 points, respectively, in the opener.

The Horned Frogs have won eight of their last ten, showcasing resilience in close games. However, Duke has lost only twice since December and boasts a potent offense that averages over 80 points per game. The Blue Devils’ defense, which held opponents to 39% shooting this season, will test a TCU team that shot just 38% in its first-round win.

Duke, which has been installed as an 11-point favorite by FanDuel Sportsbook, will aim for a more commanding performance. The over/under is 141 points.

The winner advances to the Sweet 16 next week in Los Angeles. Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 2:40 p.m. EDT, with television coverage on CBS.
