Murray State at Nevada
RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — Two teams on the NCAA tournament bubble look to bolster their resumes Wednesday when the Nevada Wolf Pack host the Murray State Racers in a nonconference men’s basketball clash at Lawlor Events Center.
Nevada (22-12) enters as an 8.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 161 points. The Wolf Pack have won three of their last four, including an 80-45 rout of Air Force and an 84-80 road win at Grand Canyon last week before falling 79-66 at Utah State on Friday.
Murray State (20-12) has dropped three of its last four, most recently a 92-79 home loss to Illinois-Chicago on March 6. The Racers have struggled on the road in that stretch, with losses at Bradley and Illinois State by an average of 13 points.
A key matchup will feature high-scoring guards. Murray State’s Javon Jackson is coming off a 30-point performance against Illinois-Chicago and has averaged 15.3 points over his last four games. For Nevada, Vaughn Weems has been a consistent force, scoring in double figures in eight of his last ten contests. He poured in 30 points in a narrow overtime road loss to UNLV on Feb. 28 and had 17 in the loss to Utah State.
The Wolf Pack have relied on a stout home-court defense, holding opponents to an average of 62.8 points in their last five games in Reno. They will be tested by a Murray State offense that surpassed 80 points in three of its last five games but has been prone to road inconsistencies.
With both teams sporting nearly identical records, the game serves as a critical late-season opportunity for a quality win. Nevada seeks to solidify its standing, while Murray State aims for a signature road victory to enhance its postseason profile.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. PDT.
