George Washington at Utah Valley

GEORGE WASHINGTON VISITS UTAH VALLEY IN NONCONFERENCE FINALE

VINEYARD, Utah (Interstat) — The Utah Valley Wolverines, fresh off a 25-win regular season, will host the George Washington Revolutionaries in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at the UCCU Center.

Utah Valley (25-8) enters as a slight favorite, installed with a 2-point spread, following a narrow 63-61 home loss to California Baptist on Saturday that snapped a six-game winning streak. The Wolverines’ high-powered offense, which averages over 78 points per game, will be tested against a George Washington squad looking to build momentum after an up-and-down campaign.

The Revolutionaries (18-15) concluded their regular season with an 88-81 loss at Saint Louis last Friday. They have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games. George Washington will rely on forward Tyrone Marshall, who is coming off a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds against the Billikens. Marshall has scored in double figures in four of his last seven contests.

Utah Valley counters with guard Jackson Holcombe, who scored 18 points in the loss to Cal Baptist and is averaging 15.1 points over his last seven games. His versatility was on full display in a Feb. 21 win at Texas-Arlington, where he posted 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

The game features contrasting styles. George Washington has shown a capacity for high-scoring outputs, topping 90 points twice in recent weeks, but has also been prone to defensive lapses. Utah Valley has been consistently efficient, particularly at home where they boast a 14-3 record this season.

The over/under for the contest is set at 155.5 points. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT Wednesday.
