The second half, however, became a stark contrast. Southern, led by the backcourt duo of Atlanta native Michael Jacobs and forward AJ Barnes, found its rhythm. Jacobs, who finished with 19 points and nine assists, orchestrated the comeback, repeatedly driving into the lane and finding open teammates. Southern had two final opportunities to tie or take the lead. First, Amboree’s driving layup attempt rolled off the rim with 14 seconds left. After Diallo secured the defensive rebound, he was fouled. Diallo missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Wells grabbed a crucial offensive rebound for Prairie View. Williams was then fouled and sank both free throws to ice the game, providing the final margin.

Williams led all Prairie View scorers with 18 points and added five assists in 40 minutes, directing the offense throughout. Horne contributed 15 points, five assists, and a key late-game block, while Wells added 16 points and three blocks. For Southern, Jacobs and Barnes combined for 37 points, but the Jaguars’ early hole proved too deep to fully escape.
