Southern Mississippi vs. Troy

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Southern Mississippi squad riding its star guard will look to continue a late-season push when it faces Troy in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Sunday at UWF Field House.

The Golden Eagles (18-15) enter on a three-game winning streak, including an 86-73 victory at Appalachian State on Saturday. Their recent success has been fueled overwhelmingly by the spectacular play of Tylik Weeks. The guard is averaging 30.3 points over his last three games, including a 32-point performance in an 81-77 win at Texas State on Friday. In the teams’ most recent meeting on Feb. 14, Weeks scored 32 points to lead Southern Miss to a 69-65 home victory over the Trojans.

Troy (20-11), which last played on Feb. 27 in an 80-65 win over Louisiana-Monroe, will seek to protect its home court and avenge that narrow loss. The Trojans are led by forward Thomas Dowd, who posted 22 points in the win over ULM. In the February loss at Southern Miss, Dowd contributed 13 points and three blocks.

The series has been split this season, with each team winning on its home floor. Troy dominated the first meeting, a 91-65 victory on Jan. 14.

Southern Mississippi’s recent run has improved its record after it sat at 15-15 just over a week ago. Troy has won two straight and three of its last five, with its defeats in that span coming by a combined 14 points.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Troy is projected with a 69% probability to win Sunday’s contest.

Tipoff is set for Sunday, March 8, 2026.
