COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (Interstat) — Southern avenged a regular-season loss by holding off Arkansas-Pine Bluff 84-81 in a SWAC men’s basketball tournament game Thursday at Gateway Center Arena.

The Jaguars, who fell to the Golden Lions by one point in January, led 39-37 at halftime. Both teams’ offenses surged after the break, with Southern outscoring Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45-44 in the second half to secure the narrow victory.

The win improved Southern’s record to 16-15. Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s season ended at 13-19. An announced crowd of 912 attended the neutral-site contest.
