Detroit vs. Robert Morris
INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — A spot in the NCAA tournament will be on the line Monday when the Detroit Titans and Robert Morris Colonials meet in the championship game of the Horizon League men’s basketball tournament.
The top-seeded Colonials (22-10), who won the regular-season title, will face the sixth-seeded Titans (16-14) at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Robert Morris seeks its first NCAA tournament bid since 2015, while Detroit aims for its first since 2012.
The Colonials enter on a seven-game winning streak, including a 73-62 victory over Detroit on Feb. 25. In that game, Robert Morris guard Ryan Prather scored 29 points. Prather, the team’s leading scorer during its streak, is averaging 20.1 points over his last seven contests. He posted 24 points in a quarterfinal win over Youngstown State.
Detroit has won seven of its last nine games, powered by the backcourt play of TJ Nadeau. The guard is averaging 17.3 points over that stretch, including a 28-point performance in a road win at Oakland. In the Titans’ tournament run, which included an 84-63 semifinal rout of Milwaukee, Nadeau scored 17 points.
Robert Morris has dominated the season series, winning both matchups. Beyond the February win, the Colonials also won 85-77 at Detroit on Jan. 2.
The game will be a contrast in momentum. Robert Morris has been the Horizon’s most consistent team, leveraging a balanced attack and stout defense. Detroit, after a middling regular season, has found its form in March, playing its way to the conference final as the lowest remaining seed.
The winner will receive the Horizon League’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA tournament. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT on Monday, March 9.
