BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — Chance Westry scored 22 points and dished 11 assists to lead UAB to a 90-83 victory over East Carolina in an American Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Bartow Arena.

The Blazers, who improved to 20-11, used a strong second half after leading 41-44 at halftime. UAB shot 54.7% from the floor, aided by 22 points from Daniel Rivera. East Carolina’s Giovanni Emejuru recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Pirates, who fell to 11-20. UAB committed only seven turnovers and outscored East Carolina 49-39 after intermission to secure the win before a crowd of 4,123.
