Elon vs. William & Mary

Elon Seeks Season Sweep of William & Mary in Colonial Clash

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A late-season Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup with seeding implications for the upcoming conference tournament is set for Saturday when William & Mary hosts Elon at CareFirst Arena.

The Tribe (19-11) enter the contest with the superior overall record and look to protect their position in the league standings, while the visiting Phoenix (14-17) aim to salvage their season with a third consecutive victory over William & Mary this year.

Elon won both regular-season meetings, including an 81-78 road win on Feb. 14. In that game, Elon guard Bryson Cokley scored a season-high 29 points. Cokley remains a focal point for the Phoenix, averaging 14.4 points over his last seven games despite the team losing six of those contests. Elon is mired in a four-game skid, most recently a 76-57 home loss to UNC Wilmington on Tuesday.

William & Mary has won three of its last four, including a 94-85 victory over Hampton on Tuesday. The Tribe are led by guard Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi, who is averaging 13.7 points and 4.3 assists over the last six games. He had 13 points and six rebounds in the Feb. 14 loss to Elon.

The game is a neutral-site contest at CareFirst Arena in the nation’s capital, though William & Mary will be designated the home team. For Elon, a win would complete a difficult season sweep and provide momentum heading into the CAA tournament. For William & Mary, it’s a chance to improve its tournament resume and gain a measure of revenge against a team that has had its number this season.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026. The CAA Men’s Basketball Championship begins the following week.
