Stonehill at Mercyhurst

Preview: Stonehill Skyhawks at Mercyhurst Lakers

ERIE, Pa. (Interstat) — The Mercyhurst Lakers host the Stonehill Skyhawks in a regular-season finale on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with both teams looking to build momentum before conference tournaments.

The matchup at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center is a quick rematch of a game from just a week prior, when Mercyhurst (16-16) edged Stonehill (11-20) 75-72 in overtime on Feb. 28. The season series is split, as Stonehill won the first meeting 62-57 in overtime on Jan. 17.

Stonehill enters following its most impressive win of the season, an 81-71 road victory over then-Le Moyne on Wednesday. The Skyhawks have shown a high ceiling, averaging 86 points in their last three wins, but have struggled with consistency during a 4-6 stretch over their last 10 games.

The Skyhawks are led by guard Davante Hackett, who is coming off a 26-point performance against Le Moyne. Hackett has been a volume scorer, posting games of 40, 30 and 26 points in recent weeks. Ethan Meuser (20 points vs. Le Moyne) and Hermann Koffi provide additional offensive support.

Mercyhurst, sitting at .500, has been more balanced, going 5-5 in its last 10 contests. The Lakers are led by guard Jake Lemelman, who scored 20 points in the previous win over Stonehill and matched that total in Wednesday’s 70-61 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson. Qadir Martin, who had five blocks in that game, anchors the defense.

The Lakers will aim to protect their home court, where they are 10-5 this season. Stonehill is 4-12 on the road. The game could hinge on which team controls the tempo, with Stonehill seeking a faster pace and Mercyhurst looking to leverage its recent defensive form.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST. The game will not be televised nationally but will be available via streaming on the conference digital network.
