Tulsa at Rice
HOUSTON (Interstat) — A surging Tulsa team riding a three-game winning streak will look to continue its dominance over struggling Rice when the men’s basketball programs meet in an NCAA Division I contest Saturday.
The Golden Hurricane (16-3) visit the Owls (8-11) at Tudor Fieldhouse in a rematch of a lopsided conference opener just over three weeks ago. Tulsa routed Rice 97-48 on Dec. 31, 2025, in a game that was never competitive.
Tulsa enters with significant momentum, coming off an 83-66 victory over Memphis on Wednesday where guard Tylen Riley led the way with 16 points and eight assists. Riley has been a catalyst during the win streak, averaging 15.7 points and 6.3 assists per game over the stretch. He played just 21 minutes in the first meeting with Rice, contributing nine points and three assists.
Rice seeks to halt a two-game skid and find consistency after a narrow 69-65 loss to Temple on Wednesday. The Owls have shown flashes, including a road win at Wichita State earlier this month, but have struggled against the conference’s top tier. Guard Eternity Eguagie provided a bright spot against Temple, scoring 14 points off the bench. His role has expanded since playing only four minutes in the December blowout loss at Tulsa.
The matchup pits one of the conference’s most efficient offenses against a Rice squad searching for answers. Tulsa has scored 86 or more points in each game of its current streak, while Rice has been held under 70 points in three of its last five outings.
For Rice, containing Riley and improving defensive transition will be paramount to avoid a repeat of the December defeat. Tulsa aims to maintain its sharp form on the road as it continues to pursue a conference title.
The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CST tip-off on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026.
