Northeastern at Drexel
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the Colonial Athletic Association will meet Saturday when the Drexel Dragons host the Northeastern Huskies in a men’s Division I basketball matchup.
The game is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2026, at Drexel’s Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Drexel (9-11 overall) enters with a slight edge in the standings and is looking to rebound from a narrow 59-58 road loss to Towson on Monday. In that defeat, guard Shane Blakeney led the Dragons with 16 points. Blakeney has been a consistent offensive threat, averaging 14.3 points over his last six games, including an 18-point performance in a dominant 73-51 win at Monmouth on Jan. 15.
Northeastern (6-13) arrives after a 95-80 home loss to Stony Brook on Thursday, its fourth defeat in five games. The Huskies have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 87.4 points in those five contests.
A key matchup will feature the teams’ primary guards. Northeastern’s Mike Loughnane is a focal point of the Huskies’ offense, leading the team in assists and coming off a 23-point outing at Campbell on Jan. 3. His ability to facilitate and score will be critical for an offense that has shown flashes, such as in an 85-78 win over Elon on Jan. 15.
For Drexel, Blakeney’s scoring prowess will be central. The Dragons have found success this season with defense, holding opponents under 60 points in three of their last five games, including a 56-37 rout of Stony Brook.
Historically, the series has been closely contested, adding another layer to this conference clash. Both teams will view this as a pivotal opportunity to build consistency as the CAA schedule reaches its midpoint.
The Dragons will look to protect their home court, where they are 6-4 this season, while the Huskies aim to improve a 1-7 road record.
Following this game, Drexel will host Hampton on Jan. 29. Northeastern’s next contest is at home against College of Charleston on Jan. 31.
