AMHERST, N.Y. (Interstat) — Massachusetts survived a furious second-half rally by Buffalo to escape with a 68-67 men’s basketball victory Friday night at Alumni Arena.

The Minutemen led 38-29 at halftime but were outscored 38-30 after intermission as the Bulls charged back. Ryan Sabol led all scorers with 27 points for Buffalo. Marcus Banks paced Massachusetts with 19 points. Leonardo Bettiol added 16 points for the Minutemen, who improved to 13-8. Daniel Freitag scored 18 for the Bulls, who fell to 13-6. A crowd of 2,310 watched the Mid-American Conference contest.
