Tulane at Florida Atlantic
Preview: Tulane at Florida Atlantic in Key AAC Matchup
BOCA RATON, Fla. (Interstat) — A tightly contested American Athletic Conference race brings a quick rematch to FAU Gymnasium on Wednesday night as the Florida Atlantic Owls host the Tulane Green Wave.
Just over two weeks after Tulane (12-6, 3-3 AAC) edged Florida Atlantic (13-6, 4-2) 69-66 in New Orleans on Jan. 4, the two teams reconvene with both looking to build momentum for a conference push.
The Owls, who have won three straight since that loss, including a 79-73 road victory at Temple on Sunday, will seek to defend their home court and avenge the earlier defeat. Florida Atlantic has been potent offensively during its win streak, averaging 84.3 points per game.
Tulane arrives looking to snap a two-game skid after losses to UAB and, most recently, a 71-63 defeat against North Texas on Sunday. In that game, guard Rowan Brumbaugh led the Green Wave with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Brumbaugh has been a consistent force for Tulane and was instrumental in the first matchup against FAU, scoring 20 points. Over his last five games, he is averaging 20.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
Florida Atlantic counters with its own standout in guard Josiah Parker. He is coming off a season-high 22-point performance in 23 minutes off the bench against Temple. Parker’s scoring efficiency provides a key spark for the Owls’ second unit.
The Jan. 4 game was decided by a single possession, indicating another close battle is likely. Tulane’s ability to handle FAU’s depth and home-court advantage will be critical, while the Owls aim to improve their execution down the stretch against a Green Wave team they know can close out tight games.
Wednesday’s result will impact the middle tier of the AAC standings as both teams navigate a challenging league schedule.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST.
