Florida Atlantic vs. UCF
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging UCF squad, boasting one of the nation’s best records, will look to continue its dominant non-conference play when it hosts in-state foe Florida Atlantic on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Osceola County Stadium.
The Knights (10-1) have won six straight games, most recently a 102-80 rout of Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday where they shot 57% from the field. They are powered by guard Themus Fulks, who is coming off a 21-point, 5-assist performance and has averaged 14.0 points and 6.6 assists over his last five games. UCF’s high-powered offense has scored 80 or more points in eight of its 10 victories.
The Owls (8-4) aim to rebound from a 75-88 road loss at Saint Mary’s last Friday. Florida Atlantic has shown a potent offense of its own, averaging 84.5 points per game, but has stumbled against higher-level competition, with all four losses coming against teams with winning records. Guard Josiah Parker provides a key spark, averaging 12.0 points over his last three contests, including a 16-point, 5-rebound effort in a win at Florida Gulf Coast earlier this month.
This matchup pits UCF’s formidable home-court advantage, where they are 7-0 this season, against an FAU team that is 2-3 in true road games. The Knights’ defense will be tested by an Owl attack that has topped 105 points twice this season.
For UCF, this game serves as a final tune-up before embarking on a brutal Big 12 Conference schedule starting Jan. 3 against Kansas. Florida Atlantic concludes its non-conference slate before opening American Athletic Conference play on Dec. 31.
The Knights lead the all-time series 5-2, but the programs have not met since 2013. Tuesday’s contest offers a late-December showcase between two Florida programs heading in opposite directions into the heart of the season.
