Miami (FL) vs. Georgetown
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from their first losses of the young season will meet Friday when the Georgetown Hoyas face the Miami (FL) Hurricanes in the 2025-26 ESPN Events Invitational.
Both teams enter the neutral-site contest with strong 5-1 records, but are coming off narrow defeats from Thursday. Georgetown fell 84-79 in overtime to Dayton, while Miami was defeated 72-62 by BYU.
The Hoyas have been led by the backcourt duo of Malik Mack, who scored 24 points against Dayton, and KJ Lewis, who added 19 points and seven assists. Their early schedule includes a quality win over Clemson.
The Hurricanes will lean on forward Malik Reneau, who nearly posted a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss to BYU. Miami’s two losses have come against BYU and Florida, but they have shown a potent offense, scoring 99 and 97 points in wins over Elon and Delaware State, respectively.
Friday’s matchup is the next test for both programs before they return to their respective conference schedules next month. Georgetown will travel to face North Carolina on Dec. 7, while Miami is set to visit Mississippi on Dec. 2.
