MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Santa Clara Broncos look to rebound from their first loss of the season when they face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a neutral-site men’s basketball game Friday in Palm Desert, California, as part of the Acrisure Series.

Santa Clara (6-1) saw its undefeated start end with a 71-70 road loss to Saint Louis on Thursday. Elijah Mahi led the Broncos with 18 points in the narrow defeat. Prior to that, Santa Clara’s season included convincing wins over Nevada and Xavier.

Minnesota (4-3) also enters on a one-game skid, falling 72-68 to Stanford at home on Thursday. The Golden Gophers have struggled against major-conference opponents, with losses to Missouri and San Francisco preceding the Stanford game.

The neutral-court matchup pits Santa Clara’s high-scoring offense against a Minnesota team seeking consistency. The game is a nonconference test for both before they return to their respective league schedules.

Tip-off is set for Friday at the Acrisure Series venue in Palm Desert.
