Belmont vs. Toledo

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — The undefeated Belmont Bruins look to continue their dominant start to the season when they face the Toledo Rockets in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday in the Coconut Hoops event.

Belmont (6-0) is coming off a 94-57 rout of Saint Francis (Pa.) on Monday. The Bruins have won each of their games by double digits, including a 75-68 victory over Lipscomb and an 83-60 road win at Oral Roberts. Sam Orme led the way against Saint Francis with 15 points, while Brigham Rogers added 12 points and five rebounds.

Toledo (4-2) arrives in Florida after a 75-68 road victory over Troy on Monday. Sonny Wilson scored 23 points to pace the Rockets, and Sean Craig nearly secured a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Toledo’s two losses this season came at home against Marshall and South Alabama.

The game pits Belmont’s high-scoring offense against a Toledo team finding its rhythm after a solid road win. The Bruins have averaged 85.7 points per game, while the Rockets have averaged 81.8.

Wednesday’s contest is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
