Richmond vs. Charlotte
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Richmond Spiders look to rebound from their first loss of the season when they face the Charlotte 49ers in a neutral-site men’s NCAA basketball game Friday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Richmond (5-1) saw its five-game winning streak snapped in a 73-72 road loss to Furman on Thursday. Mike Walz led the Spiders in that contest with a near triple-double, posting 7 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Prior to the defeat, Richmond’s offense had been dominant, scoring no fewer than 84 points in its five victories.
Charlotte (3-4) also enters Friday’s contest seeking to end a skid, having lost its last two games. The 49ers fell 79-69 at Illinois State on Thursday, continuing a trend of struggles away from home; all three of Charlotte’s wins this season have come at home.
The neutral court in Florida provides a unique test for both teams. Richmond’s offense, which has shown high-scoring potential, will be challenged by a Charlotte team looking to stabilize its defense and secure a quality non-conference win.
Following this matchup, Richmond travels to face Belmont on Dec. 3, while Charlotte returns home to host North Carolina A&T on the same date.
