San Jose State vs. Loyola Chicago
PALM DESERT, Calif. (Interstat) — Two struggling men’s basketball teams seeking a turnaround will meet Wednesday when the San Jose State Spartans face the Loyola Chicago Ramblers at Acrisure Arena.
San Jose State (2-4) enters the non-conference matchup looking to rebound from a lopsided 81-51 home loss to Tulsa on Tuesday. The Spartans’ offense was stifled, with Colby Garland leading the team with 13 points.
The Spartans’ two victories this season have come at home against Southern and non-Division I Bethesda. They have yet to secure a win on the road or at a neutral site.
Loyola Chicago (1-6) is also mired in a difficult stretch, having lost its last five games. The Ramblers are coming off a 72-51 defeat to Northern Iowa on Tuesday. Their lone win was a 91-88 victory over Cleveland State to open the season on Nov. 3.
Both teams have struggled defensively, with each allowing an average of over 75 points per game during their current losing streaks. The game represents a chance for one squad to build momentum before returning to campus.
Following this contest, San Jose State will host UC Irvine on Sunday. Loyola Chicago’s next game is at home against Central Michigan on Dec. 2.
