Tulsa at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging Tulsa team riding a three-game win streak will face a resurgent East Carolina squad coming off its best victory of the season when the American Athletic Conference foes meet Thursday night at Williams Arena.

The matchup pits one of the league’s top contenders against a team playing for momentum heading into the conference tournament. Tulsa (23-6, 12-4 AAC) sits near the top of the conference standings and is looking to solidify its postseason résumé. East Carolina (11-18, 6-10), despite its record, has won three of its last four, including an impressive 84-68 rout of Memphis on Sunday.

The game features a compelling backcourt duel between two standout players named Riley. Tulsa’s Tylen Riley, a dynamic guard, is averaging 14.1 points and 5.1 assists per game. He is coming off a 15-point, 8-assist performance in a 90-56 blowout of Tulane on Feb. 25. He has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight contests.

East Carolina will counter with Jordan Riley, who is in the midst of a spectacular individual stretch. The guard is averaging 27.7 points over his last seven games, including a 40-point effort in a double-overtime loss to Wichita State and a 31-point outing in the win over Memphis. He has shouldered a massive offensive load, playing 40 or more minutes in four of those contests.

Tulsa’s balance has been key to its success. In the win over Tulane, David Green added 19 points and Ade Popoola scored 16. The Golden Hurricane average 80.2 points per game and lead the AAC in scoring margin.

The Pirates have found a rhythm lately, averaging 82.5 points during their recent 3-1 stretch. Corey Caulker provided a double-double (16 points, 11 assists) alongside Jordan Riley’s big day against Memphis.

Tulsa won the first meeting this season, 78-70, on Jan. 14 in Oklahoma. East Carolina will look to return the favor on its home floor, where it is 8-7 this season. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
